MER Holds 2023 Hurricane Preparedness Week

9.18.2023

During hurricane season, we must maintain a state of readiness to be able to assist our clients in preparing for and responding to a hurricane or other natural disasters. For the week of September 11-15, MER’s Emergency Management Team (MEMT) held Hurricane Week for employees. During this week, employees participated in daily meetings where multiple departments presented and refreshed their responsibilities and methods of support in the event of a natural disaster. These strategies are supported by our capabilities and culture and are implemented to safeguard employees and clients within the organization. An important part of our plan is to ensure that our employees and their families are informed, prepared, and protected.

In the event of a crisis, our objectives for incident response are always:

  • Ensure that our employees and their families are informed and supported throughout the event.
  • Secure all MER locations and equipment that are in the storm’s path.
  • Maintain a response posture and be ready to support our clients once it is safe to do so.

These events are areas that MER is well equipped to handle and respond to, and providing this critical information to employees is paramount. Prior to any natural disaster, our goal is to properly inform employees around knowing the risk, formulating a plan, and understanding communication tools and resources available to them and their families at any time. MER prides itself on our abilities to congregate and communicate our preparations and solutions in the event of any crisis. As events remain unpredictable, we do not.
