On April 24th, MER subsidiary, Coastal and Ocean Resources (CORI), is facilitating a webinar covering the basics on utilizing ShoreZone in the context of Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA). ShoreZone is a coastal habitat mapping and classification system that specializes in the collection and interpretation of spatially-referenced aerial imagery of the intertidal zone and nearshore environment. Imagery and data exists for over 100,000 kilometers (62,000 miles) of coastline in Alaska, Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.

CORI has developed an expertise in ShoreZone by working for NOAA to collect and classify the existing ShoreZone data. By working with industry stake-holders, CORI can educate and develop practical applications for the ShoreZone database as a tool for environmental spill preparedness and response planning.

The webinar is scheduled on Wednesday April 24th at 1:30 PM Alaska Daylight Time (AKDT), or 5:30 PM Eastern Standard Time. Topics include:
